Bahrain win 3-0 yet eliminated: India advance to quarterfinals on tiebreaker at Asian volleyball championship

Fukuoka, Japan – Bahrain experienced both a sweet and bitter evening. They defeated Oman 3-0 with set scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-23, but still failed to advance at the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship. India took the last quarterfinal spot as the second-best third-placed team. Bahrain matched India on wins, points and set ratio, yet lost on point ratio. The tiebreaker rule proved decisive. Hasan Haider Mohamed starred with seven kill blocks and 11 total points. Sayed Hashem Ali added 13 points, while Abdulla Ebrahim Mohamed scored 10. For Oman, Fallah Saleem Al-Aabed Mubarak Al Jaradi also had 13 points and Majid Abdallah Ali Al-Shibli contributed 11, but Bahrain's blocking and defense were too strong. The tournament in Fukuoka serves as a qualifier for the LA 2028 Olympics and the 2027 World Cup. Bahrain's elimination shows that winning a single match is not enough; teams must manage sets and point ratios carefully throughout the group stage.
